Arpana Caur

Arpana Caur is mainly a self taught artist and her paintings are shaped by events around her. A number of her works exhibit a feminist perspective often with portraits of women placed in a contemporary urban context. Mysticism, literature, devotional poetry, religious thought, political events and social issues have often been central to her paintings. The technical side of her work has been enriched by inspiration from the Pahari miniature tradition.
