Sovan Kumar

Sovan Kumar’s art works have been influenced by the concept of globalization especially in his home state of Orissa, where a number of people from the villages are opting to move to the cities. He has created series of paintings and sculptures based on three core facets of globalization – religion, economy and politics. He uses trucks both as a vehicle and a medium of change – a visual metaphor of movement that represents cultural change and globalization, leading to migration which is an instrument of economic development.
