Shyamal Mukherjee gets his inspiration from his daily life and portrays figures bordering on a caricature style, which is guaranteed to make the viewer smile. His works are a delightful mélange of the Bengali folk culture with his unique style of showcasing ‘Baba and Bibi.’ Most of the figures in his body of works have an interesting story to narrate and are plump, grotesquely rotund, with rosy over sized cheeks and dressed in bright, gaudy clothes. Shyamal’s preferred medium is reverse oil or acrylic on transparent acrylic sheets.
