Shuvaprasanna’s love for his native Calcutta has figured prominently in his works where he painted misty, dream-like images of narrow lanes and rooftops of the city. However he has moved away from being termed as an urban artist and now is famous for his Icons, flowers and birds. His iconic series of Krishna and Radha are modern and contemporary in style with a universal appeal and lyrical expression as are his flowers with their subtle erotic undertones. His colour palette is bright and vivid and there is a textural use of gold and silver foil.
