Saibal Das started his career as a photojournalist but soon discovered that as an independent photographer he could contribute to society through his pictorial narratives. He is well known for his series on ‘circus girls’ where he showed the plight of this marginalized and gendered community and ‘Chitpur’ where he depicts the timeless story of Calcutta. His narrative on India’s traditional faith can be seen in his portrayal of Benaras, Vrindavan and Nabadwip which gives him and his viewers a sense of peace and tranquility.
