Pratul Dash grew up in rural Orissa midst open pristine spaces and lush green fields. After moving to Delhi and watching the deteriorating state of natural landscapes, his paintings started reflecting his concerns about the environment as well as his personal experience of being thrown into the chaos of urban living. Viewers can sense the pain caused by the artist’s displacement of the self and the struggle to exist in a familiar land but under unfamiliar conditions as a rightful citizen rather than a refugee or outcast.
