Bhaskar Rao’s art draws inspiration from nature, specifically trees and green rolling landscapes with pleasant clear blue skies. His art reflects his memories and experiences from the places in which he has lived, touched, smelled and walked through. His leitmotif, the tree, has remained a constant in his oeuvre because of a deep and innate bond he has with trees that go beyond their function of giving fruit and shade to being sentinels of protection and play a mystical and spiritual role. Painting trees in myriad mediums, Bhaskar returns each time to it with a new vision – black and white, sombre grey or bright resplendent colours – showing his personal and close relationship with nature.
