Jagannath Panda’s mixed media paintings, drawings and sculptures are influenced by his concerns about urbanization, politics, daily conflict, environment degradation and the plight of human beings, culture and life in general due to modernization. The natural and the man-made juxtapose in his works, illustrating this very paradox between India’s development and the simultaneous destruction of the environment and mankind. He mixes mythology with reality, motifs from traditional Indian art with images from contemporary cultures and uses materials like silver foil, thread, tracing sheets, fabric, brocade and glue in his art works.
