S. Harshavardhana is a self-taught artist who displays his vast creative vocabulary in his heavily textured but plainly coloured art works. He is very influenced by tribal art and symbols and creates abstract geometric forms where inverted triangular structures are constructed within carefully demarcated coloured area, some blending in while others cut into the other or create scars – bringing a distinctive character to each painting. His works have innumerable meanings and should not be perceived in any particular way but seen through many layers.
